A Concerned Woman Entrepreneur Designs Award-Winning Device To Save Water At Home
Save Water
The world is looking at a water scarcity situation of enormous proportions, evident from the fact that in just 4-5 years’ time, about two-thirds of the total population of the world would face water shortage.
The impact will go beyond humankind and affect the ecology and environment too. The thought was enough to jolt young woman entrepreneur, Suman, into action and start practicing preservation of water in her daily life.
This professionally qualified, mother of two, designed an amazing device called ‘Aquasave,’ which is changing lives in hundreds of homes across India.
The device received the ultimate endorsement when Suman received the certificate for being one of the winners of the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s “Water Heroes – Share Your Stories Contest” in January 2020, acknowledging her contribution to water management.
Suman had started working on this device when she became aware of the extent of water scarcity and its impact on human life in the year 2019.
Once she realised that being frustrated or plain awareness wouldn’t make much difference, she designed Aquasave.
This device can be connected to your home RO purifier or air-conditioner, and it stores the drained water for later usage, thus saving a lot of water in the process.
To put things into perspectives, Suman says, “For every 7 litres of purified water, the RO wastes around 20 litres. If you look at the volume of water wasted in all the households with RO installed, it becomes a case of gross water mismanagement.”
And reason enough to find a concrete solution!
Aquasave is a classic case of innovative ideas put to use by a housewife and it helps to store the drained water so that it can be utilised for other household purposes like dish washing, car washing, gardening, floor cleaning, cleaning washrooms, etc.
The product embodies the age-old saying – “Every drop counts!”
Aquasave is an innovatively designed product that helps us save water.
Suman has kept in mind several factors to develop it, therefore, it is easy to install, wall mountable, zero maintenance, ideal way to reduce water wastage.
It comes in 2 variants – 1) RR1, which has an additional “Auto Cut RO” feature, which helps the RO stop automatically when the tank is full, and 2) RR, which has all the features of RR1 but it doesn’t have the Auto-Cut feature.
Speaking about this product, Suman, says, “Whoever is using an RO for water purification or an air-conditioner at home must use Aquasave because it really saves a lot of water on a daily basis, which would otherwise go waste. Because of its compact design, some of our customers are even using it for water storage in the long run.”
Aquasave started selling on Amazon in July 2020 and, quite amazingly, it sold out in the first two months’ time.
The manufacturers had to really work hard to keep up with the orders coming in fast enough.
On their website, they also talk about the concerning situation regarding water conservation.
As for her mission in life, Suman says, “We really hope that in the near future, Aquasave will be there in every house.”
She hopes thus not for personal profit or monetary benefits but because she wants “the world to save water” before the earth runs out of its supply of nature water resources.
Besides, they are continuously working on improving their product.
Apart from manufacturing a customised version of Aquasave, the start-up will soon be coming up in different sizes and other variations, depending upon the demand in future.
Aquasave is a landmark product in a country where women need to walk miles daily to collect just a pot of water.
It has flagged off to a good start through online sales, but it is the duty of every good citizen of this country, who uses RO purifier or an air-conditioner at home, to get Aquasave installed so that India’s water problems are resolved for the future
