Indias Water Crisis Can Be Solved Only With The Help Of Six R’s
Fetching water has been a woman’s job for centuries.
• India houses 16% of the global population but has only 4% of the world’s freshwater resources.
• Girls in rural India are denied education because they have to fetch water for families.
• According to a Central Ground Water Board report of 2017, 256 out of 700 districts of the country reported ‘critical levels’ of groundwater.
Combine the above points with changing weather patterns, global warming, over-reliance on water bodies and recurring droughts and you would understand why India is facing a water-stress today. But we aren’t here to talk only about this problem, which is frightening, no doubt! But rapid urbanization, extreme weather events and overpopulation are some more issues that have threatened the water prosperity of India. And to get back on track with enough water for everyone, the country needs to normalize the 6 R’s, which are –
Indias Water Crisis
1. RETHINK-
Nothing hurts more than water going down the drain. So, before you fill up your bucket, swimming pool, bathing tub, or the watering can, think whether you really need this water. If there is an alternative to your fresh water needs, go for it. For instance, for watering the plants or washing the car, you can use the recycled water, that you get from devices like the Aquasave water storage and disbursal tank. You would be surprised to know about the amount of water that can be saved with a little bit of rethinking and innovation.
2. REDUCE-
Reduce water usage! Though we don’t recommend compromise on the functional use of water or its quality, you just need to become smarter about the same. Devices like tap aerator are instrumental in reducing 90% water usage in daily life without causing water shortage. So, think about reducing water consumption through using discarded water for washing hands or vegetables, etc.
3. RECHARGE-
RECHARGE water as much as you can. To recharge the groundwater is the primary responsibility of mankind. And this can be done easily by limiting our water usage. Besides that, we must plant trees because trees help maintain the groundwater table. It is important to buffer the storage of groundwater so that it remains available for future use for a longer time.
4. REUSE-
REUSE water more than once. It isn’t bad to reuse water as much as you can. Don’t worry; there will be no compromise on the quality of water because each time, the water will be used for a different purpose. A revolutionary product like ‘Aquasave’ water storage and disbursal tank will be your best partner in this case. This product is designed to save the rejected water in a 15-litre tank and then provide it for further usage in household chores such as washing floors, cleaning utensils, watering plants or filling air-coolers. So you get the picture!
5. RECYCLE-
RECYCLE water without fail. Whenever you can, recycle water before discarding it completely. Whether it is a household, industry or office, every establishment needs to install products that help in recycling water on a daily basis. Such a process can make use of the same water repeatedly, till the permissible extent and save significant amount of water in this way.
6. RESTORE-
RESTORE the natural cycle of water. This is something you owe to the environment as a human being. For doing this, you need to start with understanding the water cycle in nature. Then you need to restore the damage done to the environment through indiscriminate usage of water by the modern societies. There is no doubt that it is a long process, but with sustained efforts, the natural balance can be restored.
The theory of 6 R’s is what is going to restore the natural water balance on this earth, but only if we think of it today.
